Rolex GMT-Master II Nicknames Explained: Pepsi, Batman, Batgirl, Sprite

GMT-Master II nicknames come from the two-color bezel that tracks a second time zone. Pepsi is red and blue, Batman and Batgirl are blue and black, and Sprite is green and black with the crown on the left side of the case.

Why does a GMT have a two-color bezel?

The GMT-Master was designed to show two time zones at once. The extra 24-hour hand points to the bezel, and the two colors split day and night hours.

The nicknames

Nickname Bezel What to know
Pepsi Red and blue The classic GMT colorway
Batman Blue and black Name used for the blue/black model on the Oyster bracelet
Batgirl Blue and black Same colors, on the Jubilee bracelet
Sprite Green and black Crown and date on the left side

Why is the Sprite's crown on the left?

The Sprite was made as a left-handed, or "destro," version. The crown and date window sit on the left so the watch is comfortable on the right wrist and the crown does not dig into your hand.

Which one should I buy?

It comes down to color and bracelet. Prices for each vary with market demand, condition and whether the watch comes with box and papers. See Box and Papers and Jubilee vs Oyster.
